I am a Yorkshire-based Composer and Performer, with a Masters Degree in Music (Composition) and a BA Honours Degree in Music and Film Studies, accompanied with years of industry experience composing for short films, theatre productions and websites.
I have composed York Theatre Royal, Riding Lights Theatre Company and I am currently the Director of Music for Panopticon Films, a Hull based production company. During my years at University, I was the Musical Director for the Drama Society and composed the score to two large scale performances (Romeo and Juliet, Othello). As well as composing, I regularly perform over the Yorkshire region, and have worked with various artists and ensembles over the years, including singer songwriter Libby Redman on her debut album and Jules Richer, owner of Richer Sounds. I am currently composing for Volvo and will hopefully be writing some music for a Porsche rally award ceremony later in the year.
Having a couple of years experience working in weddings, I also offer a session musician package to perform background music and evening entertainment at weddings, private parties and other special events. Please visit the ‘Weddings/Events’ page for more information.
Inspiration – I’m hugely inspired by film Composers such as James Horner and Hans Zimmer. Favourite themes including those from Gladiator, The Pacific (TV series), Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean, to name a few! Nick’s music often fuses epic orchestral themes with modern band instruments, drawing inspiration from rock and metal bands such as Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment and Coldplay.
